Alison became passionate about stroke care during her training and has never looked back. She has experience of both acute and community settings of care delivery. Her career to date has included time as a stroke specialist nurse, a clinical research nurse and an academic research nurse. She has completed a MSc in advanced practice stroke care and is a Neurovascular Education and Training in Stroke Management and Acute Reperfusion Therapies Fellow. She was fortunate to complete her clinical validation in the US thanks to a Florence Nightingale Foundation Travel Scholarship

Alison has extensive experience in stroke research studies at multiple levels and phases including worldwide studies. She has worked alongside the Stroke Research Team, the only nurse led stroke research team in the UK, at UCLan for years. She has recently completed a NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) Doctoral Research Fellowship and is awaiting award of her PhD looking at neurological assessment and monitoring practice after stroke. She continues to teach on acute stroke care at a postgraduate level. 

She is passionate about improving stroke care and the evidence base behind it. She has extensive experience of supporting individuals in developing research experience and skills and is keen to support NSNF members in this area.
