Rachel nursing career has involved working in rheumatology, rehabilitation, surgical and orthopaedics. Her stroke experience is as a ward sister on a stroke rehabilitation unit, as a specialist nurse, a stroke co-ordinator and a advanced specialist nurse. Her current clinical role as nurse consultant involves assessment of management of patients in TIA clinic, coordinating thrombolysis and the direct admission pathways. Within this role Rachel provides leadership to the nursing team, and actively supports research. She is a PI on a research project and actively recruits patients into research trials. Rachel is also involved in the education and training of the stroke workforce. Her current interests are in education and training of the workforce, specialist and advanced nursing roles, service/practice development particularly around continence management, and nutrition.
